Thin ice on shallow vessels every morning from 24th to 20th inclusive. The Resultant Direction and Velocity of the Wind for the month of April, from 1848 to 1860 inclusive, were respectively N. 23° W., and 2.10 miles. The month of April, 1860, was cold, dry and windy-the mean temperature having been 1°43 below the average of 21 years. The depth of Rain recorded was the least during the series, and 1.153 inches less than the average, and the velocity of the wind 2.51 miles per hour above the average of 13 years.
