PALL MALL, ST. JAMES' PARK, BUCKINGHAM PALACE, ALBERT HALL, ALBERT MEMORIAL, KENSINGTON GARDENS, HYDE PARK, ALEXANDRA PALACE.

(Start at 9 o'clock).

Walk along PALL MALL (59), passing the Statue of George III. On the right are the Haymarket and Her Majesty's Theatres, and nearly opposite is the United Service Club. A little further is the GUARDS' MEMORIAL (60). Turn down Waterloo Place opposite, to the DUKE of YORK'S COLUMN (61). On the right side going down towards this is a statue of Sir John Franklin, and on the left a statue of Sir Colin Campbell. Return up Waterloo Place to Pall Mall and turn to the left. On the left side of the street are now, in succession, the Athenæum Club, the Travellers' Club, the Reform Club, and

the Carlton Club, and a little further along is the War Office, in front of which is a statue of Sidney Herbert. Opposite the War Office are the Junior Carlton and Army and Navy Clubs. On the left again is the Guards' Club. On reaching the open. space turn to the left. ST. JAMES' PALACE (62) is on the right, and Marlborough House, the town residence of the Prince of Wales, is on the left. Pass on, and crossing the MALL (63), enter ST. JAMES' PARK (64). Proceed straight across the Ornamental Water by the bridge, (from whence Buckingham Palace can be seen on the right, and the Horse Guards and the new Government Offices on the left), and continue to Birdcage Walk, the road outside the park. Turn to the right. The WELLINGTON BARRACKS (65) are on the left side of the road. Pass on to Buckingham Gate. Turn to the right, passing in front of BUCKINGHAM PALACE (66). When past the palace, turn to the left up CONSTI

being on the left and the Green Park on the right.* On reaching the end of Constitution Hill, turn to the right to HYDE PARK CORNER† (6).

[Instead of walking through the Park, a 'bus can be taken here to the Albert Hall, a little more than a mile.] Enter HYDE PARK (7) by the park gates, and, after crossing a short distance, turn to the left along Rotten Row‡ to the ALBERT MEMORIAL (68). Opposite the memorial is the ALBERT HALL (69), adjoining which are the Horticultural Society's Gardens. The large buildings here formed the INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION of 1862 (70).§ Near the Albert Hall also is the National Training School for Music, erected in 1875. Down Exhibition Road, on the east side of the Albert Hall, is the SOUTH KENSINGTON MUSEUM (96), and you can

†The visitor was here on Monday, but crossed the park in a different direction to that pointed out to-day. The Great Exhibition of 1851, stood on this side of

the Park.
