led to the abstraction of some few of them from the Library, the Committee have judged it expedient to have the Minerva head impressed in gold letters on the sides, and the name of the Club on the backs of all the books. This operation is in progress, but it will take some time before it is completed.

The Catalogue of Donations affixed to this Report, will show that the Club continues to be indebted to the liberality of the members for many valuable accessions to the Library; and in reference to the last year's Report on this subject, the Club will perceive, by the List immediately annexed of the most important purchases since effected, that these acquisitions have been made in strict adherence to the principles there laid down.

GIDEON ALGERNON MANTELL, LL.D., F.R.S., F.G.S., &c. Author of various works on Geology, founder of a large collection of Fossils recently purchased by the British Museum, and well known as the discoverer of the Iguanodon and Hyloosaurus, for which discoveries and his extensive and accurate knowledge of, and practical skill in, comparative anatomy, he received in 1838 the Wollaston Medal from the Geological Society.

RICHARD OWEN, Esq., F.R.S., F.G.S., F.L.S., Hunterian Professor of Comparative Anatomy and Physiology in the Royal College of Surgeons, and author of many valuable and original papers on physiological, medical, and anatomical Subjects, published in the Philosophical Transactions, and in those of the Geological, Linnæan, Zoological, and Medico-Chirurgical Societies, and at present engaged by the British Association to draw up a Memoir on Fossil Reptiles.
