"God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, " and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. "This is the first and great commandment. And "the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: there is none other "commandment greater than these. On these "two commandments hang all the law and the "prophets." And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God, and there is none other but he. And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself; is more than all whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices. And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, "Thou art not far from the "kingdom of God."

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, while he taught in the temple, "How say the scribes that Christ is the son of "David? what think ye of Christ? whose son is "he?" They say unto him, "The son of David.” He saith unto them, "How then doth David call "him, in the book of Psalms, Lord; saying, by "the Holy Ghost, The Lord said unto my Lord, "sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine "enemies thy footstool? If David then call him "Lord, how is he his son?" And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man, from that day forth, ask him any more questions; and the common people heard him gladly. Matt. xxiii. 1-14. Mark xii. 38-40. Luke xx. 45-47.

Then in the audience of all the people, he said to his disciples, "The Scribes and Pharisees sit "in Moses seat. All therefore whatsoever they "bid you observe, that observe and do; but do

they bind heavy burdens, and grievous to be "borne, and lay them on men's shoulders, but they "themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do, for to be "seen of men. They love to go in long robes, "they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge "the borders of their garments, and love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats "in the synagogues, and love greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ, and all ye are brethren. "And call no man your father upon the earth: for "one is your Father which is in heaven. Neither "be ye called masters: for one is your Master, "even Christ. But he that is greatest among you, "shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt "himself, shall be abased; and he that shall hum"ble himself, shall be exalted.”

"Wo unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypo"crites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, "neither suffer ye them that are entering, to go in. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him "that dwelleth therein. And he that shall swear 66 by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye gen"eration of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes, and some of them ye shall kill and crucify, and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias,, son of Barachias, "whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall "come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Je"rusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and sto

Behold, your house "is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, "Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, "Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the << Lord."

Mark xii. 41-44. Luke xxi. 1-4.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury, and many that were rich, cast in much. And he saw also a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, "Verily I say unto you, that this poor wi"dow hath cast more in, than all they which have "cast into the treasury. For all these have of "their abundance cast in unto the offerings of

"God: but she of her penury did cast in all that "she had, even all her living.

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple; and his disciples came to him, for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And some spake, how it was adorned with goodly stones, and gifts. And one of them saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones, and what buildings are here. And Jesus said unto them, "See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that "shall not be thrown down."

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, over against the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew came unto him privately, and asked him, Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Take "heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ: and the "time draweth near: and shall deceive many go
