Now upon a Time Emanuel made a Feaft for the Town of Manfoul, and upon the Feafting Day, the Townsfolk were come to the Caftle to partake of his Banquet. And he feafted them with all manner of Outlandish Food. Food that grew not in the Fields of Manfoul, nor in all the whole Kingdom of Univerfe, It was Food that

came from his Father's Court, and so there was Difh after Difh fet before them, and they were commanded freely to eat, But ftill when a Fresh Difh was fet before them, they would whisperingly fay to each other, What is it? For they wift not what to call it, Exod. xvi. 15. They drunk alfo 菜 Brave Enter

of the Water that was made Wine; and

were very merry with him. There was tainment. Mufick allo all the while at the Table,

and Man did eat Angels Food, and had Honey given him out of the Rock; fo Manfoul did eat the Food that was peculiar to the Court, yea, they had now thereof to the 'full, Pfal. lxxviii. 24, 255

I must not forget to tell you, that as at this Table there were Muficians; fo they were not thofe of the Country, nor yet of the Town of Manfoul; but they

were the Masters of the Songs that were fung at the Court of Shaddai.

Now after the Feaft was over, Emanuel was for entertaining the Town of Manfoul with fome curious Riddles of Secrets drawn up by his Father's Secretary, by the Skill and Wifdom of Shaddai; the like to these there is not in any Kingdom.

Riddles.

The Holy Scriptures.

Manfoul.

Riddles were made upon King

himfelf, and upon Emanuel his Son, and upon his Wars and Doings with

Emanuel alfo expounded unto them fome of thofe Rid dles himself, but Oh how they were lightned! They faw what they never faw, they could not have thought that fuch Rarities could have been couched in fo few and fuch ordinary Words. I told you before whom thefe Riddles did concern; and as they were opened, the People did evidently fee 'twas fo. Yea, they did gather that the Things themselves were a kind of a Portraiture, and that of Emanuel himself; for when they read in the Scheme where the Riddles were writ, and looked in the Face of the Prince, things look'd fo like one to the other, that Mansoz? could not forbear but fay, This is the Lamb, this is the Sacrifice, this is the Rock, this is the Red Cow, this is the Door, and. this is the Way; with a great many other Things more.

The End of that Banquet.

And thus he difmiffed the Town of Manfoul. But can you imagine how the People of the Corporation were taken with his Entertainment? Oh !: they were tranfported with Joys they were drowned with Wonderment, while they faw and understood, and confidered what their Emanuel entertained them withal, and what Mysteries he opened to them; and when they were at Home in their Houses, and in their most retired Places, they could not but fing of him, and of his Actions. Yea, fo taken. were the Townsmen now, with their Prince, that they would fing of him in their Sleep.

Manfoul muft be new modelled.

Now it was in the Heart of the Prince Emanuel to new model the Town of ManSoul, and to put it into fuch a Condition

as

as might be moft pleafing to him, and that might beft ftand with the Profit and Security of the now flourishing Town of Manfoul. He provided alfo against Infurrections at Home, and Invafions Abroad; fuch Love had he for the famous Town of Manful.

fome upon the Bittlements of the Caffle, fome upon the Towers, for there were Towers in the Town of Manfoul, Towers new built by Emanuel fince he came thi ther. There was alfo an Inftrument invented by Emanuel, that was to throw .Stones from the Caftle of Manfoul, out at Mouth-gate; an Inftrument that could not be refifted, nor that could mifs of Execution; wherefore for the wonderful Exploits that it did when ufed, it went without Name, and it was committed to the Care of, and to be managed by the brave Captain, the Captain Credence, in cafe of War. This done, Emanuel called the Lord Willbe-will to him, and gave him in Commandment to take Care of the Gates, the Wall, and Towers in Manfoul: Alfo the Prince gave him the Militia into his Hand, and a fpecial Charge to withstand all Infurrections and Tumults that might be made in Manfoul against the Peace of our Lord the King, and the Peace and Tranquility of the Town of Wanfoul. He alfo gave him in Commiffion, that if he Sound any of the Diabolonians lurking in any Corner f the famous Town of Manfoul, he fhould forth with prehend them, and flay them, or commit them to afe Cuftody, that they may be proceeded against according to Law.

Then he commanded that the Image of Diabolus should be taken down from the Place where it was fet up; and that they fhould utterly deftroy it, beating it into Powder, and cafting it into the Wind, without the Town-wall, and that the Image of Shaddai his Father fhould. et up again, with his own, upon cafle Gates; and that it fhould be more fairly drawn than ever; forafmuch as both his Father and himself were come to Manful in more Grace and Mercy than heretofore, Rev. xxii. 4. He would alfo that his Name fhould be fairly engraven upon the Front of the Town, and that it fhould be done on the beft of Gold, for the Honour of the Town of Mansoul.

After this was done, Emanuel gave out a Commandment that thofe three greatest Diabolonians fhould be ap prehended, namely, the two late Lord-Mayors, to wit, Mr. Incredulity, Mr. Luftings, and Mr. Forget-good, the Recorder, Befides thefe, there were fome of them, that Diabolus made Burgeffes and Aldermen in Manfoul, that were committed to Ward by the Hand of the now Valiant, and now right Noble, the brave Lord Will-be-will.
