PREFACE.

REMEMBERING the command to "gather up the fragments that nothing be lost," I venture to send forth this little collection of pieces, many of which have been very helpful to me at various stages of my pilgrimage, hoping that our loving Saviour may use them as a means of blessing to others. He is Himself both the Gift and the Giver,-"the Way, the Truth, and the Life," and as we are faithful, in a life of loving obedience to the revelation of Himself and His will, there is known a growth in grace, and into " Him in all things, who is our Head, even Christ," till, by His power and to His praise, something of His glorious likeness may be seen in us, while self is crucified and the pride and wisdom of the natural man humbled in the dust.

Feeling that my day's work is drawing towards its close, I think to leave this behind me, as a reminder to many dear friends in many lands, of my love for them, and my gratitude to them and to the writers of the following. pieces, and in the belief that through redeeming love and mercy we shall all meet by and by before the throne of God, "accepted in the Beloved."
