AVOID EVIL COMPANIONSHIP.

Be not quickly angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of a fool. Eccles. vii. 10.

How much better is it to reprove, than to be angry. Ecc'us. xx. 1.

There is a lying rebuke in the anger of an injurious man. Ecc'us. xix. 28.

A hot soul is a burning fire, it will never be quenched, till it devour something. Ecc'us. xxiii. 22. Anger and fury are both of them abominable, and the sinful man shall be subject to them. Ecc'us.

xxvii. 33.

Man to man reserveth anger, and doth he seek remedy of God? Ecc'us. xxviii. 3.

He hath no mercy on a man like himself, and doth he entreat for his own sins? Ver. 4.

He that is but flesh, nourisheth anger, and doth he ask forgiveness of God? who shall obtain pardon for his sins? Ver. 5.

Remember thy last things, and let enmity cease. Ver. 6.

Remember the fear of God, and be not angry with thy neighbour. Ver. 8.

Remember the covenant of the most High, and overlook the ignorance of thy neighbour. Ver. 9.

Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners. Ps. i. 1.

My son, if sinners shall entice thee, consent not to them. Prov. i. 10.

My son, walk not thou with them, restrain thy foot from their paths: Prov. i. 15.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood. Ver. 16.

Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked, neither let the way of evil men please thee; Prov. iv. 14. Flee from it, pass not by it: go aside, and forsake it. Ver. 15.

That thou mayst be delivered from the strange woman, and from the stranger, who softeneth her words; Prov. ii. 16.

And forsaketh the guide of her youth; Ver. 17.

And hath forgotten the covenant of her God: for her house inclineth unto death, and her paths to hell. Ver. 18.

None that go in unto her, shall return again, neither shall they take hold of the paths of life. Ver. 19. The mouth of a strange woman is a deep pit: he whom the Lord is angry with, shall fall into it. Prov. xxii. 14.

Look not upon a woman that hath a mind for many, lest thou fall into her snares. Ecc'us. ix. 3. The wickedness of a woman is all evil. Ecc'us. xxv. 17.

Take heed to thyself of a mischievous man, for he worketh evils: lest he bring upon thee reproach for ever. Ecc'us. xi. 35.

Seek not to be like evil men, neither desire to be with them. Prov. xxiv. 1.

Contend not with the wicked, nor seek to be like the ungodly. Ver. 19.

For evil men have no hope of things to come, and the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

The discourse of sinners is hateful, and their laughter is at the pleasures of sin. Ecc'us. xxvii. 14. If the Ethiopian can change his skin, or the leopard his spots you also may do well, when you have learned evil. Jeremias xiii. 23.

BACKSLIDERS.

Thou hast despised all them that fall off from thy judgments; for their thought is unjust. Ps. cxviii. 118. He forsook God who made him, and departed from God his Saviour. Deut. xxxii. 15.

If you forsake him, he will forsake you. 2 Paralip. xv. 2.

Thy own wickedness shall reprove thee, and thy apostacy shall rebuke thee. Know thou, and see that it is an evil and a bitter thing for thee to have left the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not with thee, saith the Lord the God of hosts. Jeremias ii.19.

O Lord, the hope of Israel; all that forsake thee shall be confounded: they that depart from thee, shall be written in the earth: because they have forsaken the Lord, the vein of living waters. Jeremias xvii. 13. Such as turn aside into bonds, the Lord shall lead out with the workers of iniquity. Ps. cxxiv. 5.

Let all them be glad that hope in thee: they shall rejoice for ever, and thou shalt dwell in them, and all they that love thy name shall glory in thee: Ps. V. For thou wilt bless the just. Ver. 13.

The Lord loveth judgment, and will not forsake his saints: they shall be preserved for ever. Ps. xxxvi. 28.

The Lord will help them and deliver them: and he will rescue them from the wicked, and save thein, because they have hoped in him. Ver. 40.

The just shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall hope in him and all the upright in heart shall be praised. Ps. lxiii. 11.

He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him. Ps. xc. 15.

And I will shew him my salvation.

Ver. 16.

They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God. Ps. xci. 14.

They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated. Ver. 15.

That they may shew-that the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him. Ver. 16. Light is risen to the just, and joy to the right of heart. Ps. xcvi. 11.

I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me; for he will speak peace unto his people: and unto his saints and unto them that are converted to the heart. Ps. lxxxiv. 9.

The children of thy servants shall continue: and their seed shall be directed for ever. Ps. ci. 29.

Blessed are they that keep judgment, and do justice at all times. Ps. cv. 3.

To the righteous a light is risen up in darkness: he is merciful, and compassionate and just. Ps. cxi. 4. The just shall be in everlasting remembrance; he shall not fear the evil hearing. Ver. 7.

The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just. Ps. cxvii. 15.

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. Ps. cxviii. 1.

Blessed are they that search his testimonies: that seek him with their whole heart. Ver. 2.

But as for the just, they shall give glory to thy name: and the upright shall dwell with thy countenance. Ps. cxxxix. 14.

The path of the just, as a shining light, goeth forwards and increaseth even to perfect day. Prov. iv. 18.

The just is as an everlasting foundation. Prov. x. 25. The expectation of the just is joy. Ver. 28. The just is delivered out of distress and the wicked shall be given up for him. Prov. xi. 8.

To him that soweth justice, there is a faithful reward. Ver. 18.

The seed of the just shall be saved. Ver. 21. The fruit of the just man is a tree of life: and he that gaineth souls, is wise. Ver. 30.

Whatsoever shall befall the just man, it shall not make him sad. Prov. xii. 21.

The Lord will hear the prayers of the just. Prov.

xv. 29.
