If I should have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1 Cor. xiii. 7.

We walk by faith and not by sight. 2 Cor. v. 7.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen, are temporal: but the things which are not seen, are eternal. 2 Cor. iv. 18.

Therefore, they who are of the faith shall be blessed with faithful Abraham.

For you are all the children of God by faith, in Christ Jesus.

For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ, have put on Christ. Gal. iii. 9, 26, 27.

For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith, which worketh by charity. Gal. v. 6.

:

By grace you are saved through faith; and this not of yourselves for it is the gift of God. Ephes. ii. 8. In all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. Ephes. vi. 16.

Having faith and a good conscience, which some rejecting have made shipwreck concerning the faith. 1 Tim. i. 19.

That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work, which is in you through Jesus Christ. Philem. 6.

Now faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not.

Without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God, must believe that He is, and is a rewarder of them that seek Him.

And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, of Barac, of Samson, of Jepthe, of David, of Samuel, and of the prophets :

Who through faith conquered kingdoms, wrought justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, recovered strength from weakness, became valiant in war, put to flight the armies of foreigners:

Women received their dead raised to life again: but others were racked, not accepting deliverance, that they might find a better resurrection :

And others had trials of mockeries and stripes, moreover also of bands and prisons :

They were stoned; they were cut asunder; they were tempted; they were put to death by the sword, they wandered about in sheep-skins, in goat-skins, being in want, distressed, afflicted;

Of whom the world was not worthy: wandering in deserts, in mountains, and in dens, and in caves of the earth.

And all these being approved by the testimony of faith, received not the promise, God providing something better for us, that they should not be perfected without us. Heb. xi. 1, 6, 32—40.

The trying of your faith worketh patience. St. James i. 3.

What shall it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him?

And if a brother or sister be naked, and want daily food,

And one of you say to them: Go in peace, be you

warmed and filled, yet give them not those things that are necessary for the body, what shall it profit ? Even so, faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. St. James ii. 14—17, 26.

(You) who, by the power of God, are kept by faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.

In which you shall greatly rejoice, now if need be for a little time to be made sorrowful in divers temptations :

That the trial of your faith, much more precious than gold (which is tried by the fire), may be found unto praise, and glory, and honour, at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Whom having not seen your love in whom also now, though you see him not, you believe, and believing, shall rejoice with an unspeakable and glorified joy;

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1 St. Peter i. 7, 9.

FASTING.

And as they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Ghost said to them: Separate me Saul and Barnabas, for the work to which I have taken them.

Then they fasting and praying, and imposing their hands upon them, sent them away. Acts xiii. 2, 3.

And when they had ordained them priests in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed. Acts xiv.

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but justice, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Rom. xiv. 3, 17.

FEAR OF GOD.

When Peter opening his mouth, said: In truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh justice, is acceptable to him. Acts x. 34, 35. Men, brethren, sons of the race of Abraham, and whosoever among you fear God, to you the word of this salvation is sent. Acts xiii. 26.

Be not high-minded, but fear. Rom. xi. 20.

Let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting sanctification in the fear of God. 2 Cor. vii. 1.

Fear the Lord, and give him honour; because the hour of his judgment is come: and adore ye him who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and the fountains of waters. Apoc. xiv. 7.

And the time is come . . to render a reward to thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and to them that fear thy name, little and great. Apoc. xi. 18.

FORGIVENESS.

Render to no man evil for evil :

Revenge not yourselves, my dearly beloved,

but give place to wrath; for it is written: Revenge is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord.

But if thy enemy be hungry, give him to eat if he thirst, give him drink: for doing this, then, thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil by good. Rom. xii. 17-21.

Let all bitterness, and anger, and indignation, and clamour, and blasphemy, be taken away from you, with all malice.

And be ye kind one to another, merciful, forgiving one another, even as God hath forgiven you in Christ. Ephes. iv. 31, 32.

See that none render evil for evil to anyone; but always follow that which is good towards each other, and towards all men. 1 Thess. v. 15.

Looking diligently, lest any man be wanting to the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness, springing up, do hinder, and by it many be defiled. Heb. xii. 15.

Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. St. James v. 9.

Not rendering evil for evil, nor railing for railing, but on the contrary, blessing for unto this are you called; that you may possess by inheritance a blessing.

1 St. Peter iii. 9.
