You are of your father, the devil; and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. St. John viii. 44.

UNBELIEF.

He that believeth, and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not, shall be condemned. St. Mark xvi. 16.

He that doth not believe is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God. St. John iii. 18.

And this is the judgment: because the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness, rather than the light: for their works were evil. Ver. 19.

For every one that doeth evil, hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved. Ver. 20.

My doctrine is not mine, but of him that sent me. St. John vii. 16.

If any man will do the will of him, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be from God, or whether I speak from myself. Ver. 17.

He that believeth in the Son, hath life everlasting: but he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. St. John iii. 36.

He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God. St. John viii. 47.

Jesus said to them: If you were blind, you should not have sin but now you say: We see; your sin remaineth. St. John ix. 41.

He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him. The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. St. John xii. 48.

He that loveth me not, keepeth not my words. And the word which you have heard is not mine; but the Father's who sent me. St. John xiv. 24.

Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins. St. John viii. 24.

VOCATION.

And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers). St. Matt. iv. 18.

And he saith to them: Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men. Ver. 19.

And they immediately leaving their nets, followed him. Ver. 20.

And going on from thence, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets: and he called them. Ver. 21.

And they immediately leaving their nets and their father, followed him. Ver. 22.

And when Jesus passed on from thence, he saw a man sitting in the custom-house, named Matthew: and he saith to him: Follow me: and he rose up, and followed him. St. Matt. ix. 9.

Now the man, out of whom the devils were departed, besought him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying: St. Luke viii. 38.

Return to thy house, and tell how great things God hath done to thee. And he went through the whole city, publishing how great things Jesus had done to him. Ver. 39.

And it came to pass, as they walked in the way, that a certain man said to him: I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. St. Luke ix. 57.

Jesus said to him: The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Ver. 58.

But he said to another: Follow me. And he said, Lord, suffer me first to go, and bury my father: Ver. 59.

And Jesus said to him: Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou, and preach the kingdom of God. Ver. 60.

And another said: I will follow thee, Lord, but let me first take my leave of them that are at my house.

Ver. 61.

Jesus said to him: No man putting his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Ver. 62.

And a certain ruler asked him, saying: Good master, what shall I do to possess everlasting life? St. Luke xviii. 18.

Thou knowest the commandments: Ver. 20.

And he said: All these I have kept from my youth. Ver. 21.

Now when Jesus had heard this, he said to him: Yet one thing is wanting to thee: sell all that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Ver. 22.

He having heard these things was sorrowful: for he was very rich. Ver. 23.

You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you, and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit, and your fruit should remain; that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. St. John xv. 16.

Follow me.

St. John xxi. 19.

Lord, and what shall this man do? Ver. 21.

Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? follow thou me. Ver. 22.

WATCHING.

Watch ye, because you know not at what hour your Lord will come. St. Matt. xxiv. 42.

Wherefore be you also ready; because at what hour you know not, the Son of man will come. Ver. 44. Take ye heed; watch and pray: for уе know not when the time is. St. Mark xiii. 33.

And he saith to them: My soul is sorrowful even unto death: stay you here, and watch. St. Mark xiv. 34.

And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping. And he saith to Peter: Simon, sleepest thou? couldst thou not watch one hour? Ver. 37.

Watch ye, and pray, that you enter not into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Ver. 38.

Let your loins be girded, and lamps burning in your hands, St. Luke xii. 35.

And you yourselves like to men who wait for their lord, when he shall return from the wedding: that when he cometh, and knocketh, they may open to him immediately. Ver. 36.

Blessed are those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and passing will minister to them. Ver. 37.

And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. Ver. 38.

Be you also ready: for at what hour you think not, the Son of man will come. Ver. 40.

Watch ye, therefore, praying at all times, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are to come, and to stand before the Son of man. St. Luke xxi. 36.

Watch ye, (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh; at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning.) St. Mark xiii. 35.

Lest, coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping. Ver. 36.

And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch. Ver. 37.
