Bring forth, therefore, fruit worthy of penance; and do not begin to say: We have Abraham for our father. For I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. St. Luke ii. 8.
Wo to thee, Corozain, wo to thee, Bethsaida : for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the mighty works that have been wrought in you, they would have done penance long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. St. Luke x. 13.

These things Jesus spoke : and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said : Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son may glorify thee. St. John xvii. 1.
I have glorified thee upon earth : I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do: Ver. 4.
And now glorify thou me, O Father, with thyself, with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. Ver. 5.
And they were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen. St. Luke xxiv. 53.
Ask, and it shall be given you. St. Luke xi. 9.
Pray for them that persecute and calumniate you. St. Matt. v. 44.
And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, who love to pray standing in the synagogues, and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. St. Matt. vi. 5.
