How vain the delusion, that while you delay, Your hearts may grow better by staying away; Come wretched, come starving, come just as you be, While streams of salvation are flowing so free. 3. And now Christ is ready your souls to receive, O how can you question if you will believe? If sin is your burden, why will you not come? 'Tis you He bids welcome; He bids you come home. 4. Come, give us your hand, and the Saviour your heart And trusting in Heaven, we never shall part; come? We'll journey together, and soon be at home. INVITATION. 6s. 1. Sinner come, 'mid thy gloom, All thy guilt confessing, Trembling now, contrite bow, Take the offered [blessing. 1. When the harvest is past, and the summer is gone, And sermons and prayers shall be o'er, 9:23 2-24 When the beams cease to break of the blest Sabbath morn, And Jesus invites thee no more. The gospel no message declare, When their harmony wakes, in the full ness of bliss, Their song to the Saviour of love,— Sinner, how canst thou bear the deep 4. Say, O sinner, that livest at rest and wailing of woe, How suffer the night of despair? 3. When the holy have gone to the regions of peace, To dwell in the mansions above; secure, Who fearest no trouble to come, Can thy spirit the swellings of sorrow endure, Or bear the impenitent's doom?
