In future all letters not duly pre-paid will be returned. We ask a little care to be observed. OUR Correspondents are particularly_requested to address their letters either to the Editor or the

LONDON CO-OPERATORS.

N compliance with a circular issued by the Committee of the Working Man, a preliminary meeting of Delegates from the various Co-operative Societies in and about London, was held on Monday, February 17th, at their office, 335, Strand, to consider the propriety of forming a Watch Committee, to act in conjunction with the Rochdale Committee, and other Co-operative bodies throughout the country, and to adopt such measures as shall facilitate and ensure (if possible) the passing of the Provident and Industrial Bill of the Hon. R. A. Slaney, through the House of Commons during the present Session of Parliament. The chair was unanimously voted to Mr. Cuddon, and letters having been read from the Woolwich, Stepney, and Brentford Stores, approving the project, the Secretary stated that Mr. Slaney had been written to, with the view of obtaining a draft or copy of the Bill, but had not, up to that period, replied. Circulars had been issued to about thirty stores, and the following is a list of gentlemen representing respectively the responding societies:-Mr. W. Webb, Twickenham; Mr. Lovejoy, Richmond; Mr. Beswick, St. George's; Mons. Boquet, Ealing and Hanwell; Mr. T. Stainsby, Croydon; Mr. Elton, Notting-hill; Mr. Shaw, Hackney; Mr. Collins, Tower Hamlets; Mr. Pugh (British), Bagnigge Well's-road; and Mr. Edgar, St. James's. There were also present several private gentlemen, friends to Co-operation, among whom we noticed Mr. T. Taylor, Mr. Turnbull, Mr. H. Baker, &c. The business of the evening having been introduced by the Editor,
