Staging the UK examines some of the most important performance in Britain from the mid-1980s into the new millennium. In a timely new critical approach, it considers contemporary British theatre in relation to national and supranational identities, critical concepts like globalization and diaspora, and contemporary contexts such as the election of New Labour, devolution and European unification. It makes a significant contribution to the study of contemporary theater by elucidating the relationships between performance, cultural identities and cultural power.
