THE TIT THE PREFACE. THE best efforts have been used to make this book of hymns agree with the reverent and grave tone of Holy Scripture and of the Book of Common Prayer. A few hymns of undoubted merit, the absence of which some persons may be disposed to regret, have been omitted.
