this family, seriously attend the worship of it, and carefully improve every religious advantage to be here enjoyed, so as to have everlasting reason to bless God that [he] [she] was brought under our roof.

For a Servant going to leave the Family. WE commend to thy blessing the servant who is about to leave this family. May [he] [she] be placed in such a situation as shall be for [his] real and spiritual good. Keep [him] from the temptations and snares to which [he] may be exposed. May [he] ever be faithful to [his] earthly masters, and above all seek to please thee our master in heaven.

For such as have lately entered into the Marriage-state.

GRACIOUS God, we would thankfully acknowledge that good providence of thine which hath brought us [or some of our friends] into the bonds of the conjugal state. May we [or they] experience all the comforts which it is adapted to produce, and faithfully discharge all the duties which it requires. Help us [them]

to cultivate mutual affection, and to guard against whatever might tend to alienate the heart from each other. May we [they] resolve with pious Joshua, "as

for me and my house, we will serve the "Lord;" and like Zechariah and Elizabeth, walk in all his ordinances and commandments blameless. Let thy blessing sanctify the new relation, and prosper us [them] in every lawful concern. May we [they] enjoy health of body, but above all may our [their] souls be in health and prosper, and may we [they] prove helps meet to each other in the way to heaven, where all shall be as the angels of God. For the Civil Government, while it shall continue in its present state.

O THOU King of kings, on whom princes equally depend with their meanest subjects, mercifully appear for our aged Sovereign in his long affliction. Spare him yet a little, that he may recover strength of body and mind before he goes hence and is no more. Sanctify this affliction to the nation at large, to those in authority, and to the Royal Family in particular: and let thy blessing rest on every member of it; especially on the Prince Regent. Let wisdom guide him, and integrity preserve him, that he may sway the royal sceptre with honour and success. Put a speedy end, we beseech thee, to the dreadful ravages of the sword, and let Jesus, the Prince of Peace, take unto him his great power, and reign in all the kingdoms of the earth.

Previous to the Celebration of the Lord's Supper; to be introduced in a Prayer for the Lord's-Day Morning, at the place marked***.

GRACIOUS God, be with those of us who are going to celebrate the memorials of our Saviour's death at his table. The preparation of the heart in man is from thee the Lord. Work in us, we beseech thee, those dispositions of soul, and excite in us those holy and devout affections, which are suited to this ordinance.

May we find our hearts truly humbled for our sins; may we look on him whom we have pierced, and mourn; and may the blood of Christ, which speaketh better things than the blood of Abel, be sprinkled upon our consciences, to purge us from dead works.

May our fellowship be with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. Enable us cheerfully and unreservedly to give up ourselves unto thee, in the bonds of an everlasting covenant. Give us to feel the constraining influence of a Saviour's love, that so we may resolve henceforth to live unto him who died for us.

1

Help us to cherish an ardent love towards all men, especially towards our christian brethren, and dispose us to forgive all that have trespassed against us, as we hope thou hast forgiven us. By waiting upon the Lord in his ordinances, may we renew our strength, and be quickened in our way to heaven By the cross of Christ may the world be crucified to us, and may we be crucified to the world.

After receiving the Lord's Supper.

LORD, we bless thee for another opportunity for shewing forth the death of Jesus Christ at his table. Help us to remember the vows of God which are upon us, and make us diligent to fulfil them.

Enable us to live and act in a manner becoming the disciples of a crucified Master, that so others may take knowledge of us that we have been with Jesus. O suffer us not to dishonour that worthy name by which we are called. Help us to walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise.

Make us watchful against all the occasions of sin, and the temptations to it. Let us not be conformed to the world, in its sinful customs and fashions, but may

we be transformed in the renewing of our minds. As Christ died for our sins, may we be dying daily unto them; and as he rose again from the dead, may we rise to newness of life. By holding communion with him in his ordinances, O may we be advancing in our love and likeness to him, and be growing more and more meet for that blessed world whither he is gone, where we shall no more need these memorials of him, but shall see his face, and enjoy his love for ever.

At the Close or Beginning of a Year.*

ETERNAL Jehovah, whose nature is unchangeable, and of whose years there is no end; we bless thee that, amidst all the vicissitudes and dangers to which we are subject, thou makest our lives thy care. Hitherto the Lord hath helped us. We desire this day to call to remembrance the years of the right hand of the Most High. Goodness and mercy have followed us all the days of our lives. We would now particularly call to mind the mercies

*It may also be accommodated to a Birth-day.
