This is a complete set of what is usually termed SPOONER'S OBLONG SERIES, and they are extremely rare. Each costume plate contains a landscape background with incidental details, forming a perfect picture. They are not of the usual order containing single figures, but groups, thus showing every detail of costume, accoutrement, &c.

As minister for war and for foreign affairs, Lord Castlereagh, in his achievements on behalf of Europe is, by Sir A. Alison, awarded the palm over both Wellington and the Emperor Alexander of Russia (ii. 493). His younger brother Sir Charles Stewart, fought under Moore and Wellington in the Peninsula (see his History of the War'), was subsequently envoy to Prussia and ambassador to Russia, Minister to the Congress at Vienna, and wrote a history of the War in Germany,' 'Tour in the North,' &c.
