This edition was largely extended by the inclusions of later voyages, but the travels of Maundeville, in Latin, occupying 65 pages in the edition of 1589, and Baker's Two Voyages to Guinea in 1562 and 1563, 12 pages in verse, were omitted. Mr. Goldsmid has included the narratives of the first edition (1589), which were omitted in the second (1599-1600), and has added some other works previously issued by Hakluyt, or published at his suggestion, viz.: 'Divers Voyages touching the Discoverie of America,' 'The Conquest of Terra Florida,' Eden's History of the West Indies,' 'The Fardle of Facions...... Maners, Customes, and Lawes of the Peoples......of Affrick and Asie,' 'The Conquest of the Canaries,' Davis's 'Worldes Hydrographical Description,' &c. He has also grouped the contents: all voyages relating to the same parts of the world are printed together. Each volume has also table of contents and index.
