Mark St. Paul's advice to Timothy.

Pray for grace to flee all lusts, and to follow after righteousness.

MARCH 16. Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned. Jerem. ii. 35.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Rom. iii. 23.

Meditate on original sin, with which every child of Adam is polluted.

Pray for forgiveness of all your sins for Christ's sake.

MARCH 17. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Isa. xxvi. 4.

He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Heb. vii.

Reflect on Christ's sufficiency to save, &c.
Pray to him to intercede for you, &c.

MARCH 18. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Ps. li. 2.

The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us

from all in. 1 John i. 7.

Meditate on the method by which man is cleansed from sin, &c.

Pray that you may be washed therefrom by the blood of Jesus, &c.

MARCH 19. Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man, who have purposed to overthrow my goings. Ps. cxl. 4.

Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into tempta

tion. Mark xiv. 38.

Meditate on the importance of watchfulness and prayer.

Pray to be kept from temptation.

MARCH 20. His eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. Job xxxiv. 21. God knoweth your hearts. Luke xvi. 15. Consider God's all-seeing eye, &c.

Pray for purity of heart, &c.

MARCH 21. Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he, I am the first, I also am the last. Isa. xlviii. 12.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Rev. xxii. 13.

Reflect on the eternity of the Lord Jesus Christ, &c.

Pray to him who is the first and the last, to supply your various wants, &c.

MARCH 22. Keep the sabbath-day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. Deut. v. 12.

Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days? Luke vi. 2.

Consider for what purpose the sabbath was instituted, &c.

Pray that you may keep it holy, &c.

MARCH 23. I have gone astray like a lost sheep : seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments. Ps. cxix. 176.

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. John

X. 7.

Meditate on the unhappiness of him who, after he has been walking in the paths of God, has gone astray from them.

Pray to Jesus, that Great Shepherd of the sheep, to receive you into his fold, and keep you from erring.

MARCH 24. The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind the Lord raiseth them that are bowed

down ; cxlvi. 8.

the Lord loveth the righteous.

Ps.

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost, and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts x. 38.

Reflect on the various miracles wrought by the Saviour, &c.

Pray to him to heal you of the dangerous contagion of sin, &c.

MARCH 25. There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked. Isa. xlviii. 22.

Cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt. xxv. 30.

Meditate on the punishment of the wicked, &c. Pray for peace on earth, and happiness in heaven.

MARCH 26. Seek ye the Lord while he may found, call ye upon him while he is near. lv. 6.

Meditate on the duty of immediate reconciliation with God, &c.

Pray for repentance and peace with God with-out delay.

MARCH 27. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Ps. cxxxiii. 1.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. John xvi. 33.

Reflect on the benefit of Christian unity, &c.
Pray for peace, unanimity, and concord.

MARCH 28. Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee. Ps. lv. 22.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Eph. vi. 10.

Meditate on God's all-sufficient help. Pray to him for assistance in all your culties, &c.

MARCH 29. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Ps. cxix. 9.

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim. i. 13.

Consider the advantage of having, and of reading the Holy Scriptures.
