Anecdote of a Country Curate.

SOME years fince refided in a country village,

a poor, but worthy Clergyman; who, with a fmall ftipend of forty pounds a year, fupported nimfelf, a wife, and feven children. It's true, that he had a garden, which he cultivated with his own hands, and, by his industry, it afforded them veetables for their table. He likewife had a cow, which, by the affistance of his wife, fupplied them with a plentiful morning's repaft; for tea was holly banished from their frugal board.
