See Affo dell' Typogr. Parma, Sect. 15, p. 72. "St. Jerome or Hieronymus was born at Stridon, on the confines of Dalmatia, about A. D. 340. He devoted himself to the study of the Heb. Ling. at Jerusalem, and then went to Antioch where he was raised to the priesthood by Paulinus, bishop of that city. He afterwards retired to the monastery at Bethlehem, where he employed himself in translating the Heb. Bible, and died there, A. D. 420, aged 80.
