According to Bayle, Robert Grosthead was the author of this work, others have attributed it to Sulpitius Verulanus, but it is thought to have been modelled after a chapter in the Castoiement d'un Pere a son Fils' transl. from the Arabic. This work, published at 35 guineas, is of the highest importance to the lawyer and historian, each statute having been copied from the original record, and every public act inserted, many of which are omitted in the common collections.

The new Actis and Constitutionis of Parliament, maid be James the fyft King of Scottis, 1540. Edinburgh be Thomas Davidson, 1541. folio. This volume contains the acts of two parliaments,-the first 'begunnyn and haldin at Edinburgh, the third day of December, the zeir of God MD and xl yeirs. The last act is for printing them. On VELLUM. A copy is in the Advocates library at Edinburgh.

The Actis and Constitutionis of Parliament maid be Marie Quene of Scottis. Edinburgh, be Robert Lekpreuik, 1565. folio. This volume contains 25 acts, with a table at the end. On the title page are the arms of Scotland, about 8 by 7 inches. Chap. 5, 13, 23 and 25 are not printed in Skene's collection 1597.

According to the preface of the Roxburghe Catalogue some acts in the copies bearing the later date are cancelled. The cancelled leaves have been twice reprinted, once at the expense of the Duke of Roxburghe, and a second time far better executed by Sir Alexander Boswell of Auchinleck.
