John Taylor, the water poet, published, in the 74th year of his age, "A short relation of a long journey made round or ovally, encompassing the principalite of Wales, from London, through and by the counties of Middlesex, Berks, Oxonia, Warwick, Stafford, Chester, Flint, Denbigh, Anglesey, Carnarvon, Merioneth, Cardigan, Pembroke, Caernarden, Glamorgan, and Monmouth. Performed by the riding, running, and crawling of John Taylor, dwelling at the sign of the Poet's Head in Phoenix Alley, near the middle of Long Aker, or Covent Garden. 8vo.

"An Historical Tour through Monmouthshire." By the Rev. William Coxe, M. A. 4to. 2 vols. with views engraved from original designs of Sir Richard Colt Hoare, Bart. 1801.

"A Tour through Monmouthshire and South Wales." By Charles Penruddock Wyndham, Esq. 8vo. 1777.

Thomas Dinely, Esq. in a quarto, MSS. neatly bound in morocco, with the Beaufort Arms on each side, which is preserved at the library of Badmenton, has given some curious drawings, atmong which are Caerleon Church, Troy House, near Monmouth, and Monmouth Church. The title of this rare and curious MSS. is as follows: "Notitia Cambro-Britannica. Voyage of North and South Wales; being various curious remarks touching their ancient kings of the North and South, princes of the British and the English line, lords presidents, militia, speeches, entertainments, seals of corporation,

views of churches, funeral monuments, epitaphs, inscriptions, marbles, Roman aras, fragments of antiquity, castles, seats of gentlemen, coat armours of divers British and other families, customs, pedigrees, sayings, manners, maps, prospects, landmarks, havens, market-towns, fairs, wakes, commodities of the respective counties of Wales, with sundry other observations, in attending his Grace the Duke of Beaufort, in his progress and general visitation of his commands there, A. D. 1684. Intermixt with some historical observations, annotations, and brief notes, from approved authorities, MS. and other records, antient charters, &c. by T. D. gent. Spe la bor levis." This progress began Monday, July 14, 1684, and ended Thursday, August 21, 1684.

As the frontispiece to Captain Barber Tour in South Wales, is a fine view of the interior of Tintern Abbey.

An account of the town of Aberystwith was published by Edward Jones, a Methodist preacher.

An elegant and improved map of Monmouthshire has recently been published by Smith of the Strand.

The botanical researches in this county have been little productive as to rare plants, few of which are to be found in Monmouthshire.
