MADAME DE STAEL.

De L'Allemagne. Par Mad. La BARONNE de STAEL HOLSTEIN. NEW Edition. 3 vol. 8vo. 11. 16s.

This important Work, whose mysterious suppression has excited the curiosity of Europe, is the result of Madame de Stael's Observations upon the Manners, the Society, the Literature, and the Philosophy, of the Germans. An Edition, consisting of 10.000 Copies, was printed at Paris, in the year 1810; and although, in its course through the press, it was submitted to the Literary Police of Paris, the whole impression was destroyed by the immediate mandate of Buonaparte. One Copy, however, escaped; and from that the present Edition is printed. It contains all the Passages originally struck out by the Police, together with a copious Preface, developing the causes of this literary persecution. GERMANY.

Translated from the French of the Baroness STAFL HOLSTEIN. NEW Edition. 3 vol. 8vo. 11. 16s.

The Life of Nelson. By ROBERT SOUTHEY. SECOND Edition handsomely printed in 2 vol. foolscap 8vo. with a Portrait, 10s.

Many Lives of Nelson have been written: one was yet wanting, clear and concise enough to become a Manual for the young Sailor, which he may carry about with him till he has treasured up the example in his memory and in his heart. In attempting such a Work, the author proposes to himself to write the Enlogy of our great Naval Hero; for the best Enlogy of Nelson is the faithful history of his actions; the best history is that which shall relate them most perspicuously.
