There must be, moreover, a subject of importance; and that subject has to be well sustained. But that even such a book should not fail to work its way into the public mind, a fitness of time and circumstance is necessary. The work which now, in its first American edition, presents itself to the general reader, seems to possess many of the above advantages. The matter of which it treats is of the highest importance-the destiny of the Christian soul: whilst the manner in which it is treated throws around it a deep, and even exciting interest. What more deeply interesting, than the examination of the only means by which the soul shall secure the benefits of redemption?
