HOLLOWAY'S PILLS.-The liver, the stomach, and their ailments.-Alternations of temperature, muggy weather, a troubled mind, sedentary habits, excesses of the table, and a gay, reckless mode of life exert the most deleterious influence over the liver and stomach. When once these organs are fairly out of order great inroads are quickly made on the general state of the health; the constitution, which has been deprived of two of its noblest organs, soon gives way, and diseases quickly follow, from which, if neglected, the worst consequences will inevitably result. If a course of Holloway's celebrated pills be persevered in, all will be well again, as they are the finest and noblest correctives of the blood ever known, and a certain cure for all disorders of the liver and stomach.

HOLLOWAY'S PILLS.-In bilious disorders, sick headache, indigestion, and affections of the nerves, these famous Pills, so highly appreciated in all quarters of the world, are regarded as a perfect remedy. They purify the blood, regulate the secretions, give tone to the stomach, restore the appetite, aud renovate the whole system. After a course of these Pills, the once emaciated and enfeebled patient is so changed that his friends are both wonder-struck and delighted. These cheap preservatives of life and health are a blessing to mankind. It would be hardly possible to overstate the good that they have effected in diseases, which, through maltreatment or neglect, had gained such a mastery over the system that their eradication seemed perfectly hopeless.

Third Edition, fcap. 8vo, cloth, price 45., post-free for 48 stamps, SCIENTIFIC CHEMISTRY, for the Use

of Schools, Colleges, and Candidates for University Matriculation Examinations. By Professor BARFF, M.A., Professor of Chemistry to the Royal Academy of Arts.

This book is now acknowledged to be one of the very best suitable for preparation for examinations. It contains all the matriculation questions of the University of London from January, 1865, to the present time, together with the answers.

"It is impossible to read this book without a conviction of its marked superiority. The conciseness and lucidity with which each point is handled give to it the freshness of original study; and the reader is disposed to regret that in his younger days he was possessed of no such handbook on this difficult science with which to quicken his awakening aspirations. Mr. Barff's book is a complete success in the art of driving away the weariness of first attempts."-Examiner and London Review.

HEAT: an Introduction to the Science of
Heat. By TEMPLE AUGUSTUS ORME, Teacher of Chemistry and
Experimental Physics, University College School, London.

"This book is an elementary elucidation of the modern science of heat.
The whole subject is clearly and concisely treated, and it would hardly be
possible to condense more of the science within the same limits and perhaps
not possible to set it forth more correctly and to preserve more completely
the relative proportions of each topic. The author's plan will commend
itself to every competent critic, especially in respect of his avoidance of
symbols and formula.
Even the advanced student will be gratified
to see present opinions in this department of physical science so well ex-
plained and arranged for elementary study."-Athenæum.

Second Edition, revised and corrected. "Mr. Wormell states in clear and concise language the principles of elementary statics and dynamics. We have no doubt that this excellent little work will be a great success."-Nature.
