O those who object to the hideousness of some of the facts in this book let it here be said that just such big, brutal facts enabled and persuaded Mr. Taft and Mr. Roosevelt (and their class) to protect their youthful sons against joining the Army and the Navy, where they would be befouled by the morally rotting influences made evident by these facts.
