Schilling's Spanish Grammar. Translated and edited by FREDERICK ZAGEL. 348 pages, cloth, $1.25.

This English translation has been prompted by the success that has already attended the French and Italian translations of the same work and by the equally important fact that, in Germanspeaking countries, the original work has reached in a few years its Twelfth Edition.

Cassell's Lessons in French. An entirely new and revised edition. In two parts, each containing 240 pages, crown 8vo, bound in cloth, 75 cents each; also complete in one volume, $1.25.

This work has been revised throughout by Mr. JAMES BOÏELLE, B.A., Examiner in French Language and Literature in the University of London. It is especially suitable for use in Polytechnic and Commercial Classes, Evening Schools, or for self-tuition. The type has been reset, and each lesson, with the exercises bearing upon it, has been brought within the compass of an hour's work. This, together with the bold type in which this new edition appears, should make the book available in numberless schools where small type and abnormally long lessons are judiciously excluded.

In the hands of a capable teacher the chalk may be used to convey more accurate information than could be possible from mere description; and, moreover, the attention of the children is directed more closely upon a drawing made before them on the board."

Cassell's French-English and English-French Dictionary. Compiled from the best authorities of both languages by Professors DE LOLME and WALLACE, and HENRY BRIDGEMAN. Revised, corrected, and enlarged from the seventh and latest edition (1877), of the Dictionary of the French Academy by Prof. E Roubaud, B.A. (Paris). 515th thousand. 1152 pp., crown 8vo cloth, red back and green side, $1.50.

Among the special features of this edition are the following: It has been enlarged by the addition of 200 pages, and now contains 1152 pp. New words to the number of 3000 have been added. It has been entirely reset in new type. It contains many features not found in any other existing Dictionary. It is the cheapest. the most complete and extensive, and, so far as modern spelling is concerned, the only accurate Dictionary of the French language published in this country.

"It really does seem as though you now have got the work beyond competition. I ask for nothing better."--R. M. Jones (Head Master), William Penn Charter School, Philadelphia, Pa.

"I find it the best Dictionary for class work."-Professor E. SNYDER, Illinois Industrial University, Champaign, Ill.

Cassell's German-English and English-German Dictionary. By ELIZABEth Weir. 222d thousand. One volume, 1126 pp., crown 8vo, cloth, red back and green side, $1.50.

Cassell's New German Dictionary has been carefully revised and brought down to the present date, thus furnishing students with a volume which is, in every respect, of the highest practical utility.

The explanations and English synonyms which accompany each group of German synonyms in the English-German part are excepionally clear and exact, and answer a difficulty felt in attempting to select from several German words the one which best expresses the sense in which the English word is used.

"To say that this is the best of the smaller German Dictionaries in the field is faint praise."-Journal of Education.

Cassell's Latin-English and English-Latin Dictionary. Revised by J. R. V. MARCHANT, M.A., and JOSEPH F. CHARLES, B.A. 112th thousand. 941 pp., crown 8vo, cloth, red back and green side, $1.50.

This is above all intended to be a Dictionary of Classical Latin, and thus a large number of archaic or post-Augustan words have been omitted, while nearly all the important articles have been entirely re-written, chiefly with the view of introducing a greater number of quotations to illustrate constructions and usage. Etymologies have been added, but mainly those of an unambitious kind. The revision closely follows, and in many points is based on, the invaluable Dictionary of Professor Georges.
