There were 462 Teachers and 95 Kindergartners employed in the Schools of Toronto during the past year in addition to the special teachers.

There are two music teachers, one drill instructor, one drawing master, and one superindendent of Kindergartens engaged in special teaching.

The certificates of the teachers are as follows:-First Class, 71; Second Class, 391.

KINDERGARTENS.

There was one new Kindergarten opened within the year in John St. School. This makes 36 Kindergartens in all. The total number registered in the Kindergartens during the year was 4013; the average of monthly registered numbers was 2162, and the average of monthly average numbers was 1659. The following table shows the registered and average attendance for each month:

The total amount paid to Kindergartners for salaries was $23.366.31.

The total amount paid for Kindergarten Supplies was $2,402.16.

The total cost of Kindergartens for salaries and supplies was $25,768.47

The cost per pupil on the basis of total enrolment was $6.42 for salaries and supplies.

The cost per pupil on the basis of average monthly number was $11.91 for salaries and supplies.

The salaries of caretakers amounted to $23,525 16.

Fuel cost $20,518; Total, $44,043.16.

Percentage of caretakers' salaries and fuel, say, $2,300.

The cost per pupil on the basis of total enrolment was $6.99 for salaries and supplies, fuel and caretaking.
