This albumen is prepared by agitating actively an albuminous solution with iodine in very fine powder, or in solution in some appropriate vehicle. The mixture is at first highly colored, blackish-brown, but this color gradually disappears after several hours of contact, and the preparation strikes a violet color with starch.
