LIBRARY ALLEN PREFACE. We feared at one period that the recent laws against the liberty of the press would have put down the Christian Reformer. Thanks to Divine Providence we are at present safe; and we venture to assure our readers, that we shall spare no efforts to make our little work worthy of their continued support. Its circulation is we hope increasing, but we rely upon the liberality and zeal of our friends to give it an extension suited to its wide object, that of Christian Reformation. If every individual subscriber who can gain an additional subscriber would use his influence to that effect, our sale would be raised, probably one third, and we should be able to increase the quantity of our work without risque. This we for some time attempted, but were soon admonished by our accounts that the increase was premature. The next and Sixth Volume will be printed in a new and handsome type, and in this and we hope also in other and more important respects will be still better entitled to the approbation of the public.
