And by Malachi (3) The LORD whom ye feek, fhall (3) Mal. Suddenly come to his Temple; even the Messenger of 3, the Covenant. But most exprefly of all, by Daniel : (4) I Jaw in the night-visions, and behold, one like (5) The Son of Man, came with the Clouds of Heaven, and came to the Antient of days, and they brought him near before him: And there was given him Dominion, and Glory, and a Kingdom; that all People, Nations, and Languages fhould ferve him: His Dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away; and his Kingdom, that which shall not be destroyed. 10. Concerning this Meffiah, in the fetting up of whofe Kingdom All the Promites of God terminate, 'tis clearly prædicted in the Old Teftament, that he fhould arife particularly from the Tribe of Judah, from the Family of David, and in the Town of Bethlehem.

The first of thefe particulars is expreffed in those emphatical words of Jacob: (3) Fudab, thou art he whom thy Brethren fhall praife, thy Fathers children fhall bow down before thee: The Scepter fhall not depart from Judah, nor a Lawgiver from between his Feet, untill Shiloh come, [LXX, sw, un end τὰ ἀποκείμθμα αυτῷ, till the accomplifhment of the Promises which God has laid up in ftore for him, and unto Him fall the gathering of the People be. Which words might indeed, of themselves, be understood concerning a Succeffion, of Kings in the Houfe of David. But that God had a further and a greater Meaning in them, he very clearly explains by the following Prophets. By Ifaiah: (3) There (3) IC. fhall come forth a rod out of the Stem of Feffe, and 11, 1 &c. a Branch fhall grow out of his roots; And then follows, Compare through the whole chapter, a glorious defcription 5, 5. 22, of an everlasting Kingdom of Righteousness, over 16. both Jews and Gentiles. By Jeremiah: (4) I will (4) Jer. raife unto David a righteous Branch, and a King 23, 5. fhall reign and profper, and fhall execute Fudgment and Fultice in the Earth: Name, whereby he fhall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
