Southey, in a note to his 'Joan of Arc,' calls Chamberlaine a poet, who has told an interesting story in uncouth rhymes, and mingles sublimity of thought, and beauty of expression, with the quaintest conceits and most awkward inversions.' According to Campbell, one of the most interesting stories ever told in verse, and containing so much amusing matter as to be made into a prose novel, entitled Eromena, or the Noble Stranger, 1683.
