I said I will confess against myself my injustice to the Lord; and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of Dan. ix. face, to our princes, and to our fathers that have sinned;

9 But to thee, the Lord our God, mercy and forgiveness, for we have departed from thee:

IO And we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his law, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

21... Father, I have sinned against S. Luke heaven, and before thee, I am not now XV. worthy to be called thy son.

13 And the publican standing afar off S. Luke would not so much as lift up his eyes towards xviii. heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O God, be merciful to me a sinner.

15 A faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into this world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.

31 If we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

8 If we say that we have no sin; we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins; he is faithful

2 And therefore thou chastiseth them that err, by little and little and admonishest them, and speakest to them concerning the things wherein they offend: that leaving their wickedness, they may believe in thee, O Lord. 13 God is compassionate and merciful, Eccles. and will forgive sins in the day of tribulation.
