It remains only, that the Author once more add his most sincere Wish and Prayer to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all Christians may study to walk quorthy of the Vocation wherewith they are called, with all Lowliness and Meekness, with Long-suffering, forbearing one another in Love; endeavouring to keep the Unity of the Spirit in the Bond of Peace : Tbat as there is but one Body, and one Spirit, and one Hope of our Calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all: (Ephef. iv. 1-6.) $6 henceforth be all of one Heart, and of one Soul, united “ in one holy Bond of Truth and Peace, of Faith and “ Charity, and may with one Mind and one Mouth glorifie God, through Jesus Chrif our Lord. If the following LITURGY should be approved of and introduced into Public Use, by any Christian Society or Church, OFFices for Baptism, as also for the Lord's Supper, may eafily be formed upon the same Plan, by any fenfible Minister or People: The Author wishes, yea thinks it necessary, that the Lord's Supper should be administered every Sonday Evening, immediately after, or at another distinct Hour from, the other common Service, agreeable to the original Practice of the Apostles and primitive Christians: And He would have added · his own Scheme for this purpose, but that He is afraid of giving farther Offence, and the present is enough to offer to the Public at first. Whatever Errors or Objections to this Work are made known to Him by Men of Candor, shall be faithfully rectified or answered in a future Edition, if that becomes neceffary. “ It cannot be expected that the Author should inform « the Public of his Name, because He would not influence “ any Persons either in Faver or in Prejudice of his Work, " which as it is wholly consecrated to the Çause of Liberty, ". Truth, and Virtue, [i. e. real Christianity] he desires all « bis Readers to perufe with the most disinterested Impar“ tiality, to whose Reason and equitable Judgment He ap“ peals, and queitions not their candid Acceptance, if not “ Approbation." However, to satisfie in fome Measure En. Enquiries that may be made about him, he declares in the Words of the spirited Writer,* whom he chufes to copy in this Paragraph, that He « is no more a Believer in the « Divine Original of the Discipline of Geneva or Edinburgh, ! than He is in that of Rome or Canterbury,” but his Trust is in the Gospel alone: “ That as He often frequents the public Worship of the Church of England, to He thinks “ it as fit, often also to join in Worihip with honeft « Proteftant Disfenters," and most neceffary to be in Charity with all Men. 66 The Friends of Truth, Li« berty, and Virtue among all Parties He efieems and « honors; and none else of any Party whatsoever.” And he trusts in God, that He is, what alone he wishes to be called, A Christian. For PSALMS or HYMNS to be sung together, He' presumes to recommend A Collection of Psalms and Hymns. for Divine IVorship, printed for Waugh, IVard, Buckland, Longman, &c. 1760, as the best Book of the Kind He has yet teen; and it seems to contain a sufficient Variety for every Occasion, selected with great Judgment from the beft Authors in this Way. private, or in Church, before the public Service begins.
