29. Try me, O God, and feek the Grounds of my Heart; prove me, and examine my Thoughts..

30. Look well if there be any Way of Wickedness in me, and lead me in the Way everlafting.

31. Now TO HIM, who is the bleffed and only Potentate, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, who only hath Immortality, dwelling in the Light, which no Man can approach unto, whom no Man hath seen, nor can see; to Him be Honor and Power everlasting, (1Tim. vi. 15.) 232, Amen.

HYMN LVIII. Evening.

I. ORD, I CALL upon thee, hafte Thou unto me, and confider my Voice when I cry unto Thee: let my Prayer be fet forth in thy Sight as the Incenfe, and let the lifting up of my Hands be an Evening-Sacrifice. (P), cxli.)

2. Set a Watch, O Lord, before my Mouth, and keep the Door of my Lips.

3. O let not mine Heart be inclined to any evil Thing; let me not be occupied in ungodly Works, with the Men that work Wickedness, left I eat of such Things as please them,

4. Let the Righteous rather fmite me, it shall be a Kindnefs; and let him reprove me, it fhall be as precious Balm, which fhall not break my Head; yea, I will pray yet against their Wickedness.

5. When their Judges are overthrown in ftony Places, they fhall hear my Words, for they are sweet.

6. But mine Eyes look unto Thee, O Lord God; in Thee is my Truft, O caft not out my Soul.

7. ICRIED UNTO the Lord with my Voice, yea, even unto the Lord did I make my Supplications. (P. cxlii.) 8. I poured out my Complaints before Him; and fhewed before him my Trouble.

9. When my Spirit was in Heavinefs, Thou knewest my Path; in the Way wherein I walked, have they privily laid a Snare for me.

10. I looked alfo upon my right Hand, and there was no Man that would know me.

11. I had no Place to flee unto, and no Man cared for my Soul.

12. I cried unto Thee, O Lord, and faid, Thou art my Hope and my Portion in the Land of the Living.

13. Confider my Complaint, for I am brought very low: O deliver me from my Perfecutors, for they are too ftrong for me..

14. Bring my Soul out of Prison, that I may give Thanks unto thy Name; which Thing if Thou wilt grant me, then fhall the Righteous refort unto my Company.

15. LORD, I AM not high-minded, I have no proud Looks, I do not exercife myself in great Matters, which are too high for me. (Pf. cxxxi.)

16. But I refrain my Soul, and keep it low, like as a Child that is weaned from his Mother, yea, my Soul is even as a weaned Child.

17. O Ifrael, truft in the Lord, from this Time forth for evermore.

18. OUT OF THE Deep have I called unto Thee, Ő Lord; Lord, hear my Voice. (Pf. cxxx.)

19. O let thine Ears be attentive to the Voice of my Supplications.

20. If Thou, Lord, wilt be extreme to mark what is done amifs, O Lord, who may abide it?

21. But there is Mercy with Thee, therefore fhalt Thou be feared.

22. I look for the Lord, my Soul doth wait for Him; in his Word is my Truft.

23. My Soul fleeth unto the Lord, before the MorningWatch, I fay, before the Morning-Watch,

24, Ifrael, truft in the Lord, for with the Lord there is Mercy, and with Him is plenteous Redemption;

25. And He shall redeem Ifrael from all his Sins.

26. Now UNTO HIM that is able to keep Us from falling, and to prefent us faultlefs before the Prefence of his Glory with exceeding Joy; (Jude 24.)

27. To the only wife God our Savior, be Glory and Majefty, Dominion and Power, both now and ever. Amen.

BLESSED BE THE LORD my Strength, who

teacheth my Hands to war, and my Fingers to fight:

my Hope and my Fortrefs, my Cafle and Deliverer, in

whom.

whom I trust, who fubdueth my People that is under me, (Pf. cxliv.)

2. Lord, what is Man, that Thou haft fuch refpect unto him; or the Son of Man, that Thou fo regardeft him? 3. Man is like a Thing of nought; his Time paffeth away like a Shadow.

4 Bow thy Heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the Mountains, and they fhall fmoke.

5. Send down thine Hand from above; deliver me, and take me out of the great Waters, from the Hand of strange Children, whofe Mouth talketh of Vanity, and their right Hand is a right Hand of Wickedness.

6. I will fing a new Song unto Thee, O God, and fing Praises unto Thee upon a ten ftringed Lute.

7. Thou haft given Victory unto Kings, and haft delivered David thy Servant from the Peril of the Sword.

8. Save me, and deliver me from the Hand of ftrange Children, whofe Mouth talketh of Vanity, and their right Hand is a right Hand of Iniquity.

9. That our Sons may grow up as the young Plants, and that our Daughters may be as the polifhed Corners of the Temple:

10. That our Garners may be full and plenteous with all Manner of Store; that our Sheep may bring forth thoufands, and ten thousands in our Lands:

11. That our Oxen may be ftrong to Labor, that there be no Decay, no leading into Captivity, and no Complaining in our Streets.

12. Happy are the People, that are in such a Cafe; yea, bleffed are the People, who have the Lord for their God. Praise Ye the Lord.

13. PRAISE THE LORD, O my Soul; while I live, will I praise the Lord; yea, as long as I have any Being, I will fing Praifes unto my God. (Pf, cxlvi.)

14. O put not your Truft in Princes, nor in any Son of Man; for there is no Help in them.

15. For when the Breath of Man goeth forth, he fhail turn again to his Earth; and then all his Thoughts perith. 16. Bleffed is he, that hath the God of Jacob for his Help, and whofe Hope is in the Lord his God:

17. Who made Heaven and Earth, the Sea, and all that therein is, who keepeth his Promife for ever:

18. Who helpeth them to right, that fuffer wrong; who feedeth the hungry. 19. The

Evening:

PRAISE THE LORD, for it is a good Thing to fing Praifes unto our God; yea, a joyful and pleafant Thing it is to be thankful. (Pf. cxlvii.)

2. The Lord doth build up Jerufalem, and gather together the Out cafts of Ifrael.

3. He healeth thofe that are broken in Heart, and giveth Medicine to heal their Sickness.

4. He telleth the Number of the Stars, and calleth them all by their Names.

5. Great is our Lord, and great is his Power, yea, and his Wifdom is infinite.

6. The Lord fetteth up the Meck, and bringeth the Ungodly down to the Ground,

7. O fing unto the Lord with Thanksgiving; fing Praises upon the Harp unto our God; who covereth the Heaven with Clouds, and prepareth Rain for the Earth, and maketh the Grafs to grow upon the Mountains, and Herb for the Use of Man.

8. Who giveth Fodder unto the Cattle, and feedeth the young Ravens that call upon him.

9. He hath no Pleafure in the Strength of an Horfe, neither delighteth He in any Man's Legs.

10. But the Lord's Delight is in them that fear him, and put their Truft in his Mercy.

II. Praise the Lord, O Jerufalem; praife thy God, O Sion: for He hath made faff the Bars of thy Gates, and hath bleffed thy Children within thee.

12. He maketh Peace in thy Borders, and filleth thee with the Flour of Wheat.

13. He fendeth forth his Commandment upon Earth, and his Word runneth very swiftly: He giveth Snow like Wool, and fcattereth his Hoar-froft like Ashes.

14. He cafteth forth his Ice like Morfels; who is able to abide his Froft?TM

15. He fendeth out his Word and melteth them; He bloweth with his Wind, and the Waters flow.

16. He fheweth his Word unto Jacob; his Statutes and Ordinances unto Ifrael.

17. He hath not dealt fo with any Nation, neither have the Heathen Knowledge of his Laws.-Praife Ye the Lord. 18. I WILL magnifie Thee, O God, my King; and I will praise thy Name for ever and ever. (P. cxlv.)

19. Every Day will I give Thanks unto Thee, and praise thy Name for ever and ever.

20. Great is the Lord and marvelous, worthy to be praised; there is no End of his Greatness.

21. One Generation shall praise thy Works unto another, and declare thy Power.

22. As for me, I will be talking of the glorious Honor of thy Majefty, thy Praise and wond'rous Works; fo that Men fhall speak of the Might of thy marvelous Acts; and I will also tell of thy Greatness.

23. The Memorial of thine abundant Kindness fhall be fhewed, and Men fhall fing of thy Righteoufnefs.

24. The Lord is gracious and merciful, long-fuffering, and of great Goodness.

25. The Lord is loving unto every Man; and his ten der Mercy is over all his Works.

26. All thy Works fhall praife Thee, O Lord, and thy Saints fhall give Thanks unto Thee.

27. They fhall fhew the Glory of thy Kingdom, and talk of thy Power; that thy Power, thy Glory, and Mightinefs of thy Kingdom may be known unto Men.

28. Thy Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and thy Dominion endureth throughout all Ages.

29. The Lord upholdeth all Such as fall, and lifteth up all those that are bowed down.

30. The Eyes of All wait upon Thee, O Lord, and Thou giveft them their Meat in due Season. Thou openest shine Hand, and fatisfieth the Defire of every living Thing.
