The works of Bishop Percy, Sir Walter Scott, Jamieson, Motherwell, Cromek, Buchan, and Kinloch are the sources from whence the Ballads have been selected; and care has been taken, by the omission of all objectionable passages, to prevent the liability of the volume to charges which may be brought against more extended collections.
