From a letter of Vaughan, resident for Henry VIII. at Antwerp, preserved in Cotton MSS., it appears that the king was very anxious to prevent the appearance of this work, and that Tyndale would have suppressed it, but had given the manuscript out of his hand.

In the third volume of his History of Scotland Mr. Tytler introduces of Richard II., tending to shew that some historical remarks on the death he did not die at Pomfret Castle, but having escaped into Scotland, lived some controversy; amongst others, Lord there many years. This has produced Dover addressed to the Royal Society of the Manner and Period of the death of Literature, May 4, 1832, a Dissertation on Richard II., an extract from which is given in Brayley's Graphic Historical tosh shortly notices it, differing from Illustrator, p. 17.
