Museums FOREWORD January 19, 1920. The observance of Bird Day in the public schools of Alabama is an annual event of unusual significance. The economic service and the pure melody of our feathered friends are quite wonderful, and the inculcation of a wholesome interest in them can but have a refining influence upon the spirit and ideals of society. I am therefore definitely designating the last Friday in March, the twenty-sixth, as Bird Day to be observed in the public schools of the State. The Department of Conservation, John H. Wallace, Jr., Commissioner, has rendered the State a genuine service in the annual preparation and distribution of this booklet, and due appreciation of the courtesy is hereby acknowledged. fright sowell Superintendent. |
