Sabin, £140 H. Nov. 21

*This anonymous pamphlet was dedicated to Sir W. Alexander, Earl of Stirling, who in 1621 had obtained the grant of Nova Scotia and (practically) of Canada, and in 1624 issued his "Encouragements to Colonies," to promote colonization. The author, who is better known as the historian of the House of Sutherland, was created premier baronet of Nova Scotia in the latter year, and assisted in the plantation of the Colony. Sabin, in 1875, quotes a copy in the Gordonstown sale at £3, and remarks, "very rare, and worth ten times that amount." There appears to be only one record of a copy sold in London, viz., in the Auchinleck Sale, in 1893, where it realised £76. The above example is sound and in clean condition, and measures 6-in. by 51-in. Collation: A 2 11., B to D in fours, E 3 11-17 unnumbered leaves.
